On Saturday night, still in the midst of my long weekend home alone, I was drinking pink lemonade around midnight, and I choked a little on a sip. Like, I took too big of a sip and it “went down the wrong pipe,” that sort of situation. But I could feel it in my chest. All I could think of was that boy in SC who died of “secondary drowning.” I was sure that if I went to sleep, I would die. From what I read, there is no way to prevent it from happening – you’re basically just supposed to go to the hospital so if you drown on the water in your lungs, they can revive you. Oh, and it can happen up to 72 hours after you’ve choked on the water. Of course by this point it was 1 or 2 AM and I had to go to sleep, so I called GG to tell him I might die, and went to bed. Woke up Sunday morning, GG came home and was happy to see me still alive. Sunday night I told him to keep an eye on me while sleeping, in case I stopped breathing. At one point (I vaguely remember this), I must not have been breathing very heavily, and he kind of shook me awake, so I think he was scared for a second. Even though I knew I was probably fine, up until yesterday my chest still kind of felt weird – I wonder if it was from the acid in the lemonade? Anyway, late tonight will be 72 hours, so I guess if I survive until tomorrow morning, I’m in the clear.

Did I mention a few weeks ago that I was getting a handyman to do some little things around the house? Not that we couldn’t eventually do them ourselves, but it’s been three years and they’re not done yet, so I figured just hire someone and get it done. Anyway, I found several guys on Angie’s List, most of them said they didn’t serve our area (whatever!), and one guy came and looked at all the stuff in the house and over a week later (and after a couple phone calls from me) e-mailed me an estimate. I got back to him with model numbers and photos of the items we wanted installed, and never heard from him again. That’s been like a month now. So yesterday I called another handyman and he actually answered his phone, which was amazing, and he told me to e-mail him all the details and he might be able to come over tonight to do the estimate, and bla bla bla. I kept my phone with me all day and checked my e-mail multiple times, and never heard back from him. So we’ll see.

Also, I ordered the cutest Sigg bottle from Delight.com, which just arrived. I’ll be trying it out tomorrow, so you can expect some review soon.
