Two Cool Web Sites |
I’ve just discovered a couple new web sites I need to pass along to you…
Twitter – I read in an article that this was going to be the next big thing on the web, so I figured I should check it out. Basically, it’s a cross between a blog and your IM away message. You get 150 characters to answer the question, “What are you doing?” If your feed is public, anyone on the site can read what you’ve published. Or you can limit it to your friends only. You can update via the web, instant message, or text message from your cell phone, and you can have your friends’ updates texted to you as well. Of course, it’s more fun if your friends are actually members, so please let me know if you join! (FYI, my feed is here.)
MyChores – I actually found this while searching for applications that integrate Twitter. MyChores allows you to keep a running to-do list online, with categories for your tasks, and the ability to schedule and repeat them (e.g. one time, weekly, bi-monthly, etc.). Probably the most useful feature, though, are its groups. You can create a group, or join an existing group, for shared tasks. For example, you could create a group for your household, and all your family members/roommates could have chores assigned to them. If the chore is repeated, the assignment can even be rotated among all the group members. You could also use this for tasks or projects at work. MyChores can notify you when your projects are due, and you can track your completion records. (If you join MyChores, can you use my referral link?)
